Alaska

Did I mention I'm in Alaska?  I don't think I did, but now you know why I haven't been updating! I'm having the time of my life and can't wait to share stories when I get back.

Have a great week!

It's Family Reunion Time!

I have a family reunion this weekend up in Idaho!  It is actually my favorite family reunion because it is located on a lovely lake and there are fun activities to do while hanging out and catching up with cousins.  For those of you that have been following me since the very very beginning, you may remember that the very first goal I had on this blog was to lose 8 lbs by my family reunion back in 2010.  I happily met that goal, and it was the start of a much more active lifestyle for me.
Zip-lines are awesome

Flash forward to this year and you know I've gained some weight back. I weighed in 5 weeks ago at 162.2 and wasn't very happy about that. This Saturday I weighed in at 155.4. I'm happy that the scale is moving downward. I'm even happier that I will weigh less at this family reunion than the last one! It's a small victory for me, but I'm very pleased with that. Somehow the idea of going to my reunion weighing more than I did two years ago was too demoralizing for me. I'm glad it's not going to happen!

I'm still clean eating and working out. It's kinda boring to blog about it daily, so I'll try to spare you that! In either case, I'm on track and feeling good about my results.
In non-workout related news, I went to The Amazing Spider-Man this weekend.  I actually really liked it!  I like the new actor as Spider-Man.  Plus, I love Emma Stone.  If you haven't seen it (and you're a fan of comic book movies) then I recommend taking a trip to your local theater.  It's good fun!

How was your weekend?

Free Soda at Work

My work decided it would be a good idea to install a free soda fountain machine at work.  That's right--my number one weakness in free form for all eternity at work.  Let's just say it's taken a lot of willpower to stay far far away from that thing.  While it's an awesome perk for most people at work, I find myself frustrated that it's been installed and having to focus daily on steering clear of it.

Has anyone else had this problem?  How do you keep the temptation away?

I'm Baaaaaaack!

Lake Powell was awesome (as always).  I played hard and soaked up a lot of sun.  I might need a vacation to recover from my vacation!  I'm just a wee bit sleep deprived, but it was totally worth it.  Our houseboat was full of wonderful people who made the trip even more fun than usual.  It's good to be around fun people.

The only downside to Lake Powell is that the food is delicious and in high supply (at least on our houseboat).  It was really hard to eat healthy and keep calories down.  We didn't have cell phone service so I couldn't use MyFitnessPal to track so I ended up going way over.  Luckily, I only gained .5 lbs.  I can handle that.  That is easily fixed with a week of eating on track and working out.  I'm looking forward to getting back at it.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I have them uploaded.  It was such a great trip and can't wait to share my adventures with you!

July Already?

Eesh.  Time goes by so fast these days.  The older I get, the faster it seems to go.  I keep worrying that I'm going to blink and I'll wake up 90 years old.  Crazy thoughts!

Starting Weight: 162.2
Today's Weight: 157.8

I survived the weekend!  I did overeat a bit at Texas Roadhouse on Friday (I had to go to a bridal shower there), but I actually logged my calories beforehand and knew exactly what I was eating and how much.  I think it kept me more in check that it normally would have because those Texas Roadhouse rolls (at 225 calories each!) are freaking delicious.  Normally I scarf those suckers down but I kept it in check.

Saturday I was SO tired.  No idea why.  But I actually took TWO naps in one day which is pretty much ridiculous.  I've never done that before.  I think I was fighting off a cold and so my body just needed the rest.  I woke up feeling better and even took some time to go on a 10 mile bike ride.  I originally didn't intend to push all that hard on it (just wanted a relaxing ride) but the sun set on me halfway through the ride so I had to book it home so I wouldn't be riding in the dark!  Oops!  It felt good to get the heart rate up and to push hard.  I was totally exhausted once I got home!

By the way, I will be gone for half this week.  I am going to Lake Powell for some lovely time in the sun!  I cannot wait to see the lovely views again:

Lake Powell 07 028
Lake Powell
Lake Powell 201
Lake Powell
Lake Powell 151
Lake Powell
Lake Powell 110
Lake Powell
Yes, please!  It's going to be about 5 days in the sun and I cannot wait to get my needed dose of Vitamin D. Booyah.  Sadly, I will miss the 4th of July fireworks but I suppose I am willing to give those up in exchange for Lake Powell!

How are you celebrating the 4th of July holiday?
