Remember how I mentioned that my achilles tendon was a bit sore during the first few miles of my half marathon? Well...it is now a LOT sore. I ran 5 miles last Tuesday and by the end of it the tendon felt so tight that I was afraid it would snap right off. I attempted to run my 16 miles on Saturday, but made it a whopping .35 miles before the pain was so bad I had to turn around. SUPER LAME. I've been icing it like CRAZY and it is starting to feel better, but still not well enough to run on. So, I will be spending a lot of time on the bike this week. I realllllly need to be able to do my long run this weekend, so send me good vibes!
Also, I'll be in Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend. Anyone out there from there? I'll be (hopefully) running 18 miles out there this weekend!
NO!!! Best of luck girl I am crossing my fingers and toes for you. We are running 18 on Friday, I wish you could run with us.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Nebraska!!! Also I just noticed you are from Idaho. What part? I was born in Pocetello and lived in Shelly for a while when I was younger.
eeeeeeeek. I SO hope that your achilles starts cooperating. hate hearing this news. hoping for the best for you and really hoping you can get in the 18!!! my brother just moved to lincoln...haha! i wish I could go with you...would be fun to see him!
ReplyDeleteI am just getting over an achilles strain... stretch, stretch, stretch, ice, ice, ice, compression, compression, compression.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you stretch the calves as well as the achilles as a tight calf pulls on the achilles. Lots of ice. Compression helps bring blood/healing to the area. WARM UP well before any run.
Good luck!!!!
BUMMER. Been there. I've had to wear THE BOOT. Which sucks. Hope you heal fast!
ReplyDeleteGirl!!!!! How come I did not know you were running a FULL Marathon? Did I miss that post?? You are AWESOME!!! That is so FANTASTIC!! I really hope your foot gets feeling better! I have a pain on the bottom of my foot. I think it's planters. It bugs so I need to go get it checked out! Sending healing vibes your way!! I hope you have an awesome long run this weekend!
